100 Days

Bonjour Room 2 families,

On Friday 7th September we celebrated reaching 100 school days in Room 2!
The children enjoyed counting 100 objects... these included shells, puzzle pieces, love hearts, stickers, beads, duplo, mini trains, mini toys, paint dots - so many interesting things to order and count!
We also enjoyed sharing a delicious morning tea, complete with hundred and thousands biscuits, fairy bread, cupcakes, popcorn, bliss balls, meringues and cookies!

Calendar Art 2018

Kia ora Room 2 families,

Every year Muritai School has a school fundraiser where children's art can be put onto cards, diaries, calendars etc. The office will send out more information regarding this in the near future. I have taken photos of the art Room 2 completed for the calendars and they can be viewed below.
Our subject was 'A Rainy Day', and the children were asked to draw themselves in their favourite gumboots, with an umbrella, out in the rain. We were inspired by all the rain last week! We used crayon, pastel and dye, and we were all very happy with the results.

Our visit to East Harbour Kindergarten!

We had a wonderful time visiting the teachers and children at East Harbour Kindergarten a couple of weeks ago!
All the Room 2 students were delighted to explore and play in the amazing learning environment of the kindergarten - which of course includes climbing trees, digging holes, playing with mud and enjoying pretend play with dress ups and baby dolls (always a favourite area of mine!).
We all look forward to visiting again later in the term, we are so lucky to be located within walking distance of each other in our beautiful Eastbourne village.

Beautiful Zealandia

We had a wonderful trip to Zealandia on Tuesday. The children were excellent bus passengers and delightful visitors at this remarkable sanctuary! We learnt about the wall which encloses the forest and waterways to protect the wildlife from predators; we saw a Tuatara burrow and a Wellington Gecko; we heard many bird calls and we saw Tuis, Shags, a Fantail and a Takahe!
This visit will support the children's growing understanding of what New Zealand was like before human settlers arrived.
